Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy is going to be the most important comic book movie since Iron Man.  That's right.  IMPORTANT.  Why?  Because it is going to take a bunch of characters that nobody cares about and fewer people even know, and transform them into your favorite crew of galactic galavanters.  Still don't believe me?  Check out the first trailer below.

Be honest with yourself now. Before Robert Downey Jr.'s snarktacular performance as Iron Man, did you give a crap about Tony Stark? You did not. Six years ago, John Favreau revitalized the comic book movie, showing viewers (and studios) that it was possible for a comic book film to straddle the line between comedy and drama, while bending genres between comedy, action, and sci-fi.

James Gunn's upcoming film is going to revitalize the genre for the next six years, showing viewers (and again, and more importantly, studios) that there's a lot to be offered on the far fringe away from those characters with the iconic logos on their chests.

Marvel remains, indeed, the house of ideas.
